Late Rally by Rhinos Secures Win
|
The Redwood Rhinos faced a tough opponent in Ladue pitcher Bill Williams, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Wellsville by a final score of 8-3. Williams went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The 4th-place Rhinos lifted their record to 21-18.
Redwood used the timely hitting of Guonçalle Sprengel to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rhinos on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We maximized our offense today," said Redwood skipper Frank Bass. "That makes everyone's life easier."
