Music Win at Tulsa, 9-3
|
The Memphis Music topped the Tulsa Otters, 9-3, with designated hitter Salvador Rúbio playing a big role. Rúbio was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs for the Music in the win. Paul Shannon was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. Felipe Salazar got the save, the 1st for him this season.
The Otters had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Music going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old shortstop Roberto Torres came to the plate. Torres hit a run-scoring single on a 0-1 fastball from Tulsa hurler Ron Ward. It was Torres's 11th hit of the year.
"We maximized our offense today," said Memphis skipper Jim Thornton. "That makes everyone's life easier."
The Music now have a mark of 13-10.
