The Long Island Ducks took Hudsonville pitcher Ken Travis's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Hudsonville Park. The final score had Long Island getting past the Flanderses, 4-3. Travis went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 7. The win was credited to Everton Stirzacre in relief. His record improves to 1-0. José Franco took the loss. Harvey Caldwell closed the game out for Long Island, earning his 8th save.
Long Island used the timely hitting of Alfredo Torres to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Ducks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Long Island manager Luis Ruíz.
Long Island is now 15-6, 2 games up in the Premier R.
