Loss to Hounds Extends Fort Knox Losing Streak
|
Hicksville rode a decent outing from starter Paul Elkins to victory over the Fort Knox Centennial at Ballpark of Baxter. The final score was 5-2. In 6.1 innings, Elkins surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. The save went to Tim Stroud, his 2nd this season.
Had Timothy Hayes not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hayes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Hounds.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Justin Saginov. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
Fort Knox, at 4-12, is off to a poor start in 2042.
