In a tight contest at Ducks Park, the Long Island Ducks edged the Hicksville Hounds by the score of 6-5. Long Island center fielder Al Ruíz, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. The win was credited to Harvey Caldwell in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Tim Stroud took the loss. With their winning streak at 5, the Ducks have raced to a strong start this season.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Long Island third baseman Alfredo Torres, facing Tim Stroud, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Ducks the 6-5 win.

"It was a solid team effort," said Torres after the game.
