Seahawks Clip Tula in Tight Contest

The Myrtle Beach Seahawks faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Horace Cope, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ramblers Ballpark by a final score of 4-2. Cope went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Myrtle Beach reliever Roberto Córdova picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Jing-quo Ts'ai was saddled with the loss. Zack Coffey, credited with the save, is now 6 for 8 in save opportunities.
Myrtle Beach used a timely hit from Wendel Koudstaal to get the win. The left fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Seahawks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Enjoyed this one," Koudstaal told the Myrtle Beach Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Myrtle Beach improves to 54-35 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.
