Chiefs Come Back Late, Nip Vibes
|
The Rocky Mountain Vibes got a superb performance from pitcher Ulbert Pals, but the Caldwell Chiefs still won the game, 5-4. Pals was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Caldwell reliever Víctor Moreno was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Kenny Pollock. Ari Schaller, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
Caldwell used the timely hitting of Luis Miguel Monteblanco to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Both teams played hard," said Caldwell manager Alexander Allen.
The Chiefs go to 46-40, putting them 6th in the Premier A.
