Chiefs Deal Comets 10-5 Setback
|
The 2042 season is getting ugly for Kent.
The Caldwell Chiefs topped the Kent Comets by the score of 10-5, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop Clark Curtis. Curtis went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Chiefs. Hsin-ta Lian earned the win for Caldwell. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out 9. With the win, he raised his record to 5-5.
Gin-fan Chong had a big 2-run single for the Chiefs in the top of the fifth inning. With Caldwell leading 5-4 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Héctor Villegas and stroked the single to center. It was his 10th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 7-4.
Chong told the Caldwell Herald: "I was born for the big stage."
Caldwell is now 43-34, Kent 27-50.
