Chiefs Lose to Vandals in Walk Off
|
The Vandals had to overcome a fine effort from Caldwell pitcher Martín Galindo to grab a narrow 2-1 win at The Riot Zone. Galindo went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The winner was Eugene reliever Doug Swanson, now 2-4. The loser was Víctor Moreno. Eugene's record now stands at 14-37, placing them last in the Premier A.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Jorge Quintana came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Caldwell pitcher Víctor Moreno, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Eugene on top, 2-1.
"It was a good effort all around," said Quintana.
