Allen Stars for Seahawks in 8-5 Win
|
The Myrtle Beach Seahawks powered past the Caldwell Chiefs, 8-5, at Pipers Ballpark. John Allen was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 4 times and driving in 3, to lead the charge. The win was credited to Carlos Pagán in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Hsin-ta Lian took the loss. Myrtle Beach, now 8-1, is playing great baseball to start the year.
The result might have been different for Myrtle Beach, had it not been for Xavier Botín. The catcher produced a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Seahawks ahead, 7-5. For the game, Botín had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Botín told the Myrtle Beach Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
