The Caldwell Chiefs got a superb performance from pitcher Tony Figueroa. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Myrtle Beach. The Seahawks won the game, 7-1. In spite of the loss, Figueroa was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The Seahawks, now 7-1, have stormed out of the gates.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and a runner on 1st, the batter, Cristo Lucas, hit a single. It helped Myrtle Beach seize the win.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Lucas told the Myrtle Beach Gazette.
