Bulls Solve 1787 BC, 5-2
|
The Belleville Bulls got a strong performance from pitcher Sam Martínez, who stymied the Delaware offense en route to a 5-2 win at Carrier Field. Wayne Daugherty was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 19 save opportunities. The 5th-place Bulls now have a win-loss record of 55-40.
Belleville used the clutch hitting of Maikel Nelis to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to give the Bulls the lead, 1-0. For the game, Nelis had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Nelis told the Belleville Gazette.
