Valenzuela Stars for Blue Dragons in 14-9 Win
|
The Levittown Blue Dragons topped the Washington Generals, 14-9, with shortstop Ernesto Valenzuela playing a big role. Valenzuela went 3 for 5 with 3 doubles and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3 for the Blue Dragons in the win. The first-place Blue Dragons, at 59-34, now lead their division by 2 games.
Levittown used the timely hitting of Jim Ellis to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Dragons on top, 9-8. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We got the victory," said Valenzuela. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
