Extra-Inning Win by Hawks over Expos
|
The Niagara Falls Expos got a sterling performance from pitcher Ralph Hanscombe, but the Hawks still prevailed, 4-3. Hanscombe was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball. Laredo reliever Bill Gould was the winner. His record is now 4-1. Armando Mata took the loss. At 57-36, Laredo is in second place in the Silver A.
Elwiin de Meij had a critical at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the 12th. The Laredo second baseman came through with a run-scoring single to put Laredo in front, 4-3.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said de Meij. "And not try to do too much."
