Expos Continue Skid Thanks to Lucciardi, 1787 BC
|
Benefiting from Eduardo Lucciardi's productive game, the Delaware 1787 BC downed the Niagara Falls Expos, 6-5. Lucciardi went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the 1787 BC. Delaware reliever Francisco González was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Sergio Castro. Francisco Díaz got the save, the 20th for him this season.
Delaware used the timely hitting of Luis Concepción to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the 1787 BC on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Delaware manager Melvin Henry.
The 1787 BC, now 53-36, have won 6 in a row.
