The 1787 BC faced a stiff challenge from Pontiac pitcher Armando Sosa, but persevered to claim a win at Pontiac Copperdome. The final score was 3-2. Sosa went 8.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Francisco González converted his 2nd save in 3 tries. Delaware, at 48-36, occupies third place in the Silver A.
Delaware used the timely hitting of Jeff Booth to capture the win. The right fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the 1787 BC ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Booth told the Delaware Gazette.
