Hawks Come Back Late, Nip Reapers
|
The Laredo Hawks eked out a 5-4 win versus the Grim Reapers at Hawks Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Dan Carter, who captured player of the game honors. André Noël earned the save for Laredo, his 19th. The Hawks have an impressive 49-30 record.
Elwiin de Meij was 2 for 4 with 2 singles for Laredo. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Roberto Días. It was his 30th RBI of the season.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Carter told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
