Smokies Edge Past Reapers, 4-3

The Tennessee Smokies beat the Grim Reapers, 4-3 at Smokies Stadium, in part due to first baseman Royce Rolls, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was Richard Nudelman's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Roberto Días took the loss for Grim. Tennessee is now 42-32, Grim 42-32.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Rolls hit a fastball from Yoichi Amano for a run-scoring single. The Smokies, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Grim manager Terrence Eler.
