Blue Dragons Fall Short, 3-2, at Delaware
|
The Delaware 1787 BC did just enough to sneak past the Levittown Blue Dragons, 3-2, at Carrier Field. Delaware pitcher José Guerrero earned player of the game honors. Guerrero, now 2-1, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 2 earned runs. Francisco Díaz got the save, the 17th for him this season.
Luis Concepción had a big run-scoring single for the 1787 BC in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Delaware leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a cutter from Ramón González and stroked the single to center. It was his 61st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the 1787 BC ahead, 3-1.
Levittown manager Félix Cruz said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The third-place 1787 BC have won 4 consecutive games.
