Smokies Curb Bulls, 7-4
|
The Tennessee Smokies defeated the Belleville Bulls, 7-4, at Belleville Field. Tennessee designated hitter Rafael Villa was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. The 6th-place Bulls have lost 4 straight games.
Tennessee used the timely hitting of Jason Durkin to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Smokies on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Enjoyed this one," Durkin told the Tennessee Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
