Melvin Thomas left his imprint on the 4-3 Charleston win against the Hollywood Shredders. Thomas, who led the PL in wins above replacement with 6.5 in 2039, was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Scotty Bingham, the winner, improved to 1-2. He held the Shredders to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Branlyn Jaraba closed the door for Charleston, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Charleston grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Thomas, who finished 2nd in the PL in runs with 70 in 2038, hit a 2-run single. His 14th hit of the season put the Battery out in front, 4-2.

"Nice to get this one," said Thomas. "Wins have been hard to come by."
