Smokies Win at Washington, 8-5
|
The Tennessee Smokies defeated the Washington Generals, 8-5, in USSL Single A action at Washington Park, with Tennessee pitcher Omar Bongo named player of the game. Harold Hunter earned the save, his 20th, for the Smokies. Tennessee has 5 straight wins, Washington 3 straight losses.
Tennessee used the clutch hitting of Tadasu Sato to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to give the Smokies the lead, 2-0. For the game, Sato had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Sato. "More importantly, I had a good game."
