Late Rally by Torch Secures Win
|
The Torch faced a stiff challenge from Belleville pitcher Sam Martínez, but persevered to claim a win at Belleville Field. The final score was 3-1. Martínez went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The Torch now have a record of 30-28.
Mancelona used the timely hitting of Paul Sykes to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Torch on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Sykes said.
