Both teams had their chances, but the Laredo Hawks eventually prevailed at Waterfall Park.

Riding the 3-hit performance of the 22-year old center fielder Elwiin de Meij, the Laredo Hawks stopped the Niagara Falls Expos, 3-2. The Hawks now own a record of 33-25.

The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until de Meij delivered big-time for Laredo, stroking a dramatic solo home run off Theo Von Heezik. The game-changing hit put the Hawks on top, 3-2.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Laredo manager Leonardo Sánchez. "It's usually not just one thing."
