Hawks Turn Back Mancelona, 7-5
|
The Mancelona Torch got a superb performance from first baseman Joel Fagliano. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Laredo. The Hawks won the game, 7-5. In spite of the loss, Fagliano was named the player of the game. He was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The Hawks improved to 32-25.
Elwiin de Meij took Adam Wright deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Hawks on top, 5-4. In all, de Meij had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said de Meij. "Just do my job."
