Pontiac left fielder José Rivera was a significant contributor in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Mancelona Torch. He went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs for Pontiac. Tony Wilson recorded the save for Pontiac, his 6th of the season. The 9th-place Godfathers lifted their record to 18-36.

East Chicago, Indiana-born John Williams came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Godfathers trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run double to center to put Pontiac on top.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Rivera told the Pontiac Daily.
