Generals Get One-Run Win at Pontiac
Washington rode a fine outing from starter Joe Kelly to victory over the Pontiac Godfathers at Pontiac Copperdome. The final score was 2-1. Kelly went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-1. The save went to Tony Nelson, his 2nd this season.

Washington used the timely hitting of Xavier Hutchesson to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Generals on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I know we have our doubters," said Pontiac manager Júlio Villegas. "But I still have high hopes for this team."

The Generals move to 18-29 with the win, while the Godfathers drop to 16-31.
