The Belleville Bulls got a sterling performance from first baseman Juan Romero, but the Torch still prevailed, 5-3. Romero was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. The save went to Robinson Guillén, his 1st this season. Today's win puts Mancelona at 24-21, while Belleville falls to 29-16.
Mancelona used the timely hitting of Marc Chagall to capture the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Torch on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We take it day by day here," said Chagall, "and today was a good one for us."
