Expos Get Close Win Over Generals
|
The Washington Generals got a sterling performance from pitcher Bill Slaughter, but the Expos still prevailed, 7-3. Slaughter was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Washington now has a 7-game losing streak.
The result might have been different for Niagara Falls, had it not been for Jim O'Neal, the 21-year old second baseman . O'Neal stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Niagara Falls up, 4-3. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," O'Neal told the Niagara Falls News.
