Jusino, Torch Too Much for Godfathers

The Mancelona Torch beat the Pontiac Godfathers, 8-5, at Pontiac Copperdome. Mancelona designated hitter Rubén Jusino earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Hirokazu Morita earned his 4th save in 5 tries. The Torch go to 19-17, putting them third in the Silver A.
In the bottom of the eighth, Mark Thomas stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Godfathers were trailing 8-5, but had the bases loaded. That's when Hirokazu Morita made a terrific pitch and Thomas struck out. Gone was the dream of a Pontiac comeback.
