The Mancelona Torch beat the Pontiac Godfathers, 7-5, at Pontiac Copperdome. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Rubén Jusino, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Mancelona reliever Jorge Ortega picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kent Copeland took the loss. Hirokazu Morita closed the door for Mancelona, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Jusino had a big at-bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the third inning, when he hit a 2-run single. The Torch went on to win.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Mancelona manager Ezequiel Chosson.
With the victory, the Torch record now stands at 18-17.
