Cleveland Bats Go Silent in 4-0 Loss
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids picked up a win at Factory of Sadness, knocking off the Cleveland Browns, 4-0. Starting pitcher Ricardo García, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 8 innings, García surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Losses have been few and far between for the Browns, who are now 8-3.
Northern Virginia used a timely hit from Tony Goodwin to get the win. The center fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the first inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said García.
