The Pontiac Godfathers got a superb performance from pitcher Phil Stephens, but the Washington Generals still won the game, 5-0. Stephens was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Washington reliever Johnny Ijzendoorn picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Phil Stephens took the loss. Earning his 1st save of the year was Del Jones.

Gabriel Gonzáles went 1-2 with a walk for Washington. The 20-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Phil Stephens. It was his 11th RBI of the season.

"The beers will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Gonzáles.

The Godfathers, now 7-18, have lost 4 straight.
