Generals Get One-Run Win at Niagara Falls
|
Washington Generals starter Francis Riley turned in a sterling performance against the Niagara Falls Expos, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Riley, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. Theodosio Brederode closed the door for Washington, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Washington used the clutch hitting of Armando García to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Generals the lead, 2-1. For the game, García had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Niagara Falls manager Alan Manor said following the tough loss.
The Expos, now 4-12, continue their slow start.
