The Delaware 1787 BC put one in the win column with an opening day 4-3 triumph over the Niagara Falls Expos. The crowd at Carrier Field watched Foeke Reus put on a fine performance, for which he was named player of the game.
Chandler Schroeder was the walk-off hero for Delaware. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the 1787 BC pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
After the game, Delaware manager Melvin Henry applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
