Walleye Lose Again, 8-6, to Caterpillars
|
Walla Walla catcher Jack Covas was sensational. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Grand Forks beat the Walleye, 8-6. Covas was named the player of the game despite the loss. The Walleye, now 32-62, have lost 6 in a row.
Henri de Beeld's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Martin van der Kuijl for a 2-run double. It put Grand Forks in front, 7-6.
de Beeld told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
