Yucca Valley and Syracuse met at Storm Park in front of a lively crowd.

Yucca Valley Yellows starter Ryan Riley was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Syracuse Storm, 8-3. Riley went the distance for Yucca Valley. He gave up 3 earned runs on 5 hits.

The Storm had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Yellows going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old center fielder John Gaudet came to the plate. Gaudet hit a run-scoring single on a 2-2 fastball from Syracuse hurler Jian-ying Yep. It was Gaudet's 77th hit of the year.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Gaudet told the Yucca Valley Citizen.

The first-place Yellows have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
