Jets Clip River Rats, 6-5
|
Kennesaw starter José Jiménez pitched effectively against the Columbia River Rats at Jets Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 6-5 win. The 4th-place Jets now have a win-loss record of 46-35.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Jets sent 21-year-old third baseman Steve Gill to the plate with a runner on 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Kennesaw on top, 6-2.
In comments to the Kennesaw Today, Gill admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
