Evergreens Lose to Rainbow Mermaids, 4-1
|
Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids starter Nick Rollins was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Portland Evergreens, 4-1. Rollins got the win, improving to 3-4. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. Rollins allowed 1 earned run. Ryunosuke Kurota was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 10 save opportunities.
Woong Byeon had a big 2-run double for the Rainbow Mermaids in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Northern Virginia leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Cristián Moreno and stroked the double to left-center. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 3-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Rainbow Mermaids manager David Lister, "I like our chances."
Even with the win, the Rainbow Mermaids have a dismal 30-75 record.
