Browns Win at Charleston, 4-3
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Charleston Armory, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2042 United States Premier League season. On the mound was Javier Ariza for the visiting Cleveland Browns and Scott Morrison for the hometown Charleston Battery. In a spirited contest, the Browns pulled out the win, defeating the Battery by the score of 4-3. Earning player of the game honors was Rafael Urrutiz. Javier Ariza got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 2.
Cleveland used the clutch hitting of Jhett Larson to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to give the Browns the lead, 3-0. For the game, Larson had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
