Shooters Get One-Run Win at Akron
|
The Springfield Shooters got a magnificent performance from pitcher Carlos Semprún, who muffled the Akron offense en route to a tight 2-1 Shooters win at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Da'wan Gaines closed it out for his 6th save. The Shooters have an impressive 38-17 record.
Springfield relied on the hitting of Yasukazu Yano to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the fourth inning to put the Shooters on top, 1-0. For the game, Yano had 1 triple and 2 singles in 3 at-bats.
"It's a mindset," said Semprún. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
