Nelis Slaps 5 Hits
|
It was a sensational day at the plate for Jochen Nelis as he led the charge to a 21-10 win over the BC. The Yucca Valley shortstop was pure misery for the Put-In-Bay pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 7 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Nelis put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Rick Bell, manager for the BC, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Jochen Nelis grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
A look at his season totals shows Nelis with no home runs, .344 BA, .354 OBP, 23 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
