Blimps Win in Extras
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps got a superb performance from left fielder Paul Wood. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Akron. The Blimps won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Wood was named the player of the game. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Akron reliever Gypsyamber D'Souza was credited with the win, to go to 3-1. Jimmy Whitney took the loss for Ithaca. After today's action, Akron sits at 20-20, while Ithaca falls to 12-28.
Akron used the timely hitting of Ju-ho Ko to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Blimps ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Ko.
