Thunder Hawks Raise Rally Flag, Beat Springfield, 4-3
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks took Springfield pitcher César González's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Springfield Stadium. The final score had Ft. Polk South getting past the Shooters, 4-3. González went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 6. The winner was Ft. Polk South reliever Modeste Azagba, now 2-0. The loser was Vasquo Lousada. The second-place Thunder Hawks are now 24-15, the Shooters 28-11.
Ft. Polk South used a timely hit from Juho Hovinen to get the win. The pinch hitter delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunder Hawks on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Ft. Polk South manager John Anderson applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
