The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles went home winners at Mercer Island Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Phil Day. Day silenced the Akron Blimps, enabling Mercer Island to grab the 11-1 win. Mercer Island has 3 straight wins, Akron 3 straight losses.

Day, a native of Merrifield, Virginia, was dealing all game. He kept Akron hitters off-balance, while giving the Screaming Eagles 7.1 quality innings. Day threw 97 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 11.
