Mariachis Score Late to Upend Sixshooters, 4-2
|
Nuevo Mexico Mariachis starter William Burkett was in fine form against the Westwood Sixshooters at Sixshooters Stadium, leading his team to a 4-2 win. Earning his 13th save of the year was Nick Ramey. Nuevo Mexico, now 18-20, holds 7th place in the Premier AA.
Nuevo Mexico used the clutch hitting of Sergio Dávalos to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mariachis ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Dávalos told reporters after the game.
