Big Day by Garland Sparks Fighting Imps Win
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps beat the Olympia Ogres, 11-6, at The Ogre Den. Ithaca second baseman Everett Garland earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. John Fleming got credit for the win, improving to 4-4. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 5 innings. Moriz Gaidamakin closed the door for Ithaca, picking up his 1st save of the year.
With Ithaca leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Garland hit a fastball from Emery Manhoran for a solo home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Fighting Imps ahead, 3-1.
"We got the victory," said Garland. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
Ithaca, now 12-26, holds 9th place in the Premier AA.
