Screaming Eagles Lose, 6-4, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark
|
It was a fun time at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, where the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks tangled.
Mercer Island got a terrific game from left fielder Dima Tabakaev. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Ft. Polk South, 6-4. Tabakaev was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Masaki Ito was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts.
Tied up with the Screaming Eagles in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Thunder Hawks got a boost from shortstop Francisco Daulong. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Daulong saw a full count knuckle curve from Jason Miller and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Ft. Polk South on top, 3-2.
Daulong told the Ft. Polk South Observer: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
Ft. Polk South has now won 3 straight, while the Screaming Eagles have lost 4 in a row.
