Mariachis Jolt Fighting Imps with Late Rally

Justice Bigbie was instrumental in his team's 5-4 triumph over the Ithaca Fighting Imps. The designated hitter went 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs for the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis. Reliever Edwin Perry picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Moriz Gaidamakin took the loss. Nick Ramey was called on to finish, recording his 12th save.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Esteban Rojas came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Ithaca pitcher Moriz Gaidamakin, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Nuevo Mexico on top, 5-4.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Rojas told the Nuevo Mexico Bulletin.
The Mariachis now have a record of 17-19 with the win over Ithaca.
