Thunder Hawks Walk It Off for 22nd Win of Season
|
Ft. Polk South beat Mercer Island at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Gabriel Obregón, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The Thunder Hawks saw their win-loss record go to 22-13. At the same time, the Screaming Eagles fell to 18-17.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the 11th, until Obregón delivered big-time for Ft. Polk South, stroking a dramatic solo home run off Luke Corner. The game-changing hit put the Thunder Hawks on top, 6-5.
Obregón described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
